THA Extends Greetings To Shouter Baptists

Secretary of Health, Wellness and Family Development in the Tobago House of Assembly, Agatha Carrington, on behalf of the THA Executive, is wishing the Baptist community a Happy Spiritual Baptist Liberation Day. Secretary Carrington, who spoke at the THA's Weekly Media Briefing on Wednesday, reminisced on the struggles of the Spiritual Baptists, which she said had brought them to where they are today. She said they would have endured many hardships and now have a day to celebrate their freedom to practice their beliefs in Trinidad and Tobago. The Spiritual Baptist Liberation Day celebrations in Tobago begin at 9am on Thursday with a street procession from Orange Hill along the Claude Noel Highway to the Baptist Lands at Signal Hill where an all-day session will commence at 10am. Spiritual Baptist Community Unhappy With Amount Of Money Given By State For Celebrations

The Spiritual Baptist community is not happy with the amount of money given to them by the State for celebrations which are set to take place tomorrow. The group said in 2016 it submitted a $1.4M budget to facilitate preparations for 3000 persons. However on Monday $20,000 was dispersed to cater for the people from the over 400 Shouter Baptist churches in the country. Click Here!

Trinidad and Tobago is the only country in the world that has a public holiday for the Spiritual Shouter Baptist faith and as Reverend Doctor Hazel Ann Gibbs-de Peza tells us, it was not easy for the faith back in the 1900s as they were viewed as committing a crime by worshipping loudly. Westboro Baptist Church Protests Kim Davis

The Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas will protest against Kentucky clerk Kim Davis Monday, according to its Twitter account. The church tweeted an image saying that the Rowan County clerk, who denied marriage licenses to gay couples on religious grounds, was a "proud, self-righteous hypocrite" and an "adulterer."
